In order to apply for a filming permit, you must have a valid United Arab Emirates production trade license. Any individuals, companies or entities that do not have a valid UAE production trade license can either apply to obtain a license or partner with a UAE-licensed production company to obtain a filming permit.

Failing to comply could land you with a fine or even a prison sentence.

25,000 AED Fine:

  • Filming without permission

15,000 AED Fine:

  • Filming without location permission

25,000 AED Fine:

  • Filming for different activities than mentioned in the permit

20,000 AED Fine:

  • Member of the production house not present on set

  • Damage to property, littering, blocking pathways or roads without permission, building sets or structures without permission and filming aerial without permission from the concerned parties

AED 500 Dubai Film and TV Commission single application processing Fee (non-refundable)

A single application includes permit requests for multiple days and locations.

AED 2,500 Public Location Fee - Up to 3 - 30 days

For private locations, the fee will range from no charge to a maximum charge of 25,000

AED 500 Red Monkey facility fee

AED 1,000 p/d for the first 3 days then discounted - Red Monkey representative present on set.

REPRESENTATIVE DISCOUNT RATE:

  • 1 - 3 Days AED1,000 p/d

  • 1 Day free out of 5 days booked

  • 2 Days free out of 7 days booked

  • 3 Days free out of 9 days booked

  • 4 Days free out of 11 days booked

  • 5 Days free out of 13 days booked

  • 6 Days free out of 15 days booked

  • Continued up to 30 days only

Location Fees vary between Government Location, Public Location, Private Location or Semi Government Location.

If your location is private with no general public administration and you have obtained permission from the owner, you do not require a filming permit.


Negotiation with Location Owners

To film in private locations such as residential properties, you will need to apply directly to the property owner to obtain written permission.
